COSMOTE Romania maintains its positive track in 2011

COSMOTE Romania announces key performance indicators for 2011 fiscal year, ended December 31st, 2011, as reported today by OTE Group.

In 2011, COSMOTE Romania continued its successful track, strengthening its financial performance in all main indicators, upgrading its network and expanding its products and services portfolio. 

COSMOTE maintained a sustained growth in its business customer base, as a result of the company's competitive and appealing offers. Thus, in 2011, the business segment grew by more than 27% versus 2010, attracting major customers like BCR or Transgaz. 

Total customer base (including Zapp) stood at approximately 6.5 million at the end of 2011, with the postpaid ratio increasing to 23.1%, as a result of the business segment growth. At the end of 2011, the company's market share stood at approximately 24%. Despite the difficult economic conditions, revenues remained stable compared to 2010, at 468.2 million Euro. EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) margin increased by 5.7 pp, to 21.4%, versus 2010, reflecting significant operating improvements. EBITDA rose to 100.1 million Euro, an increase of 35.8% versus FY 2010.

Following the successful integration of Zapp, 3G services are available to over 66% of the population. As a result, the company significantly increased its 3G customer base, by 116% compared to FY 2010.

Blended ARPU (Average Revenue Per User), increased by 10% in 2011, versus FY 2010. 

In 2011 Germanos retail chain celebrated 15 years of presence in the Romanian market. COSMOTE Romania constantly invests in developing its national sales distribution channel, which included, at the end of 2011, approximately 600 points of sale across the country.

In December 31st, 2011, the mobile operations of the OTE Group counted approximately 20.5 million customers in SE Europe.
