"I have faith in the Romanian Leu", says the Governor of the National Bank of Romania, who will keep most of his savings in the national currency. After a week during which the Romanian Leu lost more than 3% to the Euro, reaching its worst exchange rate in history, Mugur Isarescu, Governor of the National Bank of Romania, says the national currency is on a good path.

"As far as the Romanian Leu exchange rate is concerned, we're now witnessing a natural comeback and we hope that not only the currency market, but also the exchange rate, settles at levels that are better for inflation. We have also managed to bring back faith to the monetary market as regards interest rates", stated the Governor on Monday, during an economic seminar. Yesterday, the national currency continued its appreciation in relation to the Euro, and the exchange rate fell to 4.2613 Romanian Lei for 1 Euro, after it reached its maximum level on June 30th, of 4.3688 Romanian Lei for 1 Euro.
