Monthly average inflation rate reaches 0.6 pct in four months

The monthly average inflation rate in the first four months of 2010 reached 0.6 percent, while in April the annual inflation rate was 4.28 percent, according to the data gathered by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The consumer price index (CPI) climbed by 0.35 percent from March.

According to the INS, the overall average increase in prices in the last 12 months (May 2009-April 2010) as opposed to the previous 12 months (May 2008-April 2009) set on the basis of both the CPI and the harmonized index of consumer price (HICP) is 4.9 percent.

The non-food commodities registered in April as opposed to March the highest price increase, 0.56 percent, while tariffs of services rose by 0.47 percent and food commodities prices by 0.02 percent.
