BNR: 6 billion euro cash in circulation in Romania at end February
Publish date: 25-03-2010On 1 March, the cash in circulation in Romania was about n6 billion euro (24.6 billion lei), according to a BNR press release. The same document shows that the volume of credits granted by banks dropped by 3.7% in annual terms, the biggest drop being registered for credits in lei, which dropped by 1.5%.
According to BNR data compared to 1 March 2009, the volume of loans in foreign exchange (expressed in lei) dropped by 2.8% even in nominal; terms it went up - explained by the leu/euro exchange rate difference against last year. The state financing for banks doubled compared to 2009, the government credit growing by 105.1% to 50 billion lei, BNR data show.
