Nouriel Roubini, special guest on Central & South-East European financial forumUpdated: 01-03-2010 | Financial and Banking
Nouriel Roubini, the person who accurately predicted the extent of the global financial crisis will attend the seventh edition of the Central & South-East European financial forum at the invitation of Forum Invest scheduled for May 24-26, the most important annual financial event in Romania, organized by Forum Invest and National Bank of Romania.
Labeled by the international media as "Dr Doom", "Cassandra" or the "Prophet", the professor of economics is known as the man who accurately predicted the extent of the financial crisis. In 2008, Fortune magazine wrote that "In 2005 Roubini said home prices were riding a speculative wave that would soon sink the economy. Back then the professor was called a Cassandra. Now he's a sage." Nouriel Roubini is a professor of economics at the Stern School of Business, New York University and chairman of Roubini Global Economics, a think-thank specialized in economic trends analysis. Throughout his career, Roubini has been working at the International Monetary Fund, Federal Reserve, World Bank and Bank of Israel.
During the administration of Clinton, Roubini served as senior economist for the Council of Economic Advisers. At the Financial Forum to be held in Bucharest, the economist will have his own panel and will attend a series of meetings with the members of the political and business community in Romania.
After predicting the financial crisis, Roubini said at early 2008 that the recession's end is not yet in sight, and that it would persist throughout 2010 at best in the developed economies.
