Vice-Premier Marko Bela meets WB delegation

Deputy Prime Minister Marko Bela and head of the World Bank delegation Theodore Ahlers, acting country director, discussed on Tuesday at the Victoria Palace of Government a series of aspects related to economic and social developments, as well as ways whereby the World Bank could support Romania in the context of the current financial crisis.

Marko Bela highlighted the priorities of the Romanian Government related to maintaining the financial balance by economic relaunch and increasing the capacity of absorbing European funds and, at the same time, the strong decentralization of public administration.

In his turn, Theodore Ahlers underscored the importance of several laws being passed in Parliament, the Pension Law and the Fiscal Accountability Law included.

During talks, the sides also pointed out the need for the World Bank, civil society, political parties, trade unions and the Romanian business milieu to keep dialogue open.
