Traian Basescu and Mircea Geoana to face off in the presidential run-off

Traian Basescu, endorsed by the Democratic-Liberal Party (PD-L), and the candidate of the Social Democratic Party + Conservative Party (PSD+PC) Alliance Mircea Geoana, are first in today's presidential election, with Basescu holding a slight edge over Geoana, 32.8 percent to 31.7 percent, according to an exit poll conducted by the INSOMAR National Institute for Opinion Surveys and Marketing, aired by the Realitatea TV commercial channel.

According to the INSOMAR exit poll, the two are followed by Crin Antonescu of the National Liberal Party (PNL), with 21.8 percent.

Incumbent President Traian Basescu and the candidate of the PSD+PC Alliance Mircea Geoana have made it to the presidential run-off in today's presidential election, according to an exit poll conducted by the Company for Sociological Research and Branding (CCSB) aired by the Antena 3 commercial television, immediately after the vote was over.

President Basescu would have garnered 34.1 percent of the vote, while the PSD+PC candidate Geoana would have won 30.9 percent of the vote today.

Incumbent President Traian Basescu and candidate of the PSD+PC Alliance Mircea Geoana might be the candidates to battle in the presidential run-off, shows an exit poll conducted by the Public Opinion and Market Research Center (CSOP) and the Romanian Institute for Polling and Strategy (IRES) broadcast by television channel B1.

Traian Basescu, endorsed by the Democratic-Liberal Party (PD-L), reaped 33.2 pct of the votes in the first tour of the Nov. 22 presidential elections, whereas Mircea Geoana garnered 30.3 pct of the votes.
