Population and corporate deposits rise by 0.2 pct
Publish date: 27-10-2009Resident non-governmental clients' deposits rose in September by 0.2 percent compared to August 2009, to the level of 161.695 billion lei, Romania's National Bank (BNR) announced on Friday.
Population's lei deposits declined by 1.2 percent, to 59.014 billion lei. On Sept. 30, 2009 household lei deposits jumped by 17.3 percent (11.8 percent in real terms) as against Sept. 30, 2008.
Corporate lei deposits (non-financial companies and non-monetary financial institutions) declined by 3.5 percent, to 41.599 billion lei. On Sept. 30, 2009 corporate lei deposits declined by 7.9 percent (minus 12.2 percent in real terms) from Sept. 30, 2008.
Resident foreign currency deposits, as well as corporate ones (non-financial companies and non-monetary financial institutions) expressed in lei rose by 4.3 percent, up to the level of 61.081 billion lei (expressed in euro, foreign currency deposits advanced by 5.0 percent, up to 14.549 billion euros).
