Romania Launches Special Telephone Line To Report Attempted Election Fraud
Publish date: 25-10-2009Romania's Interior Ministry secretary of state Liviu Gradinaru on Sunday said the country's emergency call service 112 will have a special telephone line to report any attempts to defraud the presidential elections. Gradinaru also said the new system replaces the old telephone line used at previous elections.
"The 112 emergency call service will have a special telephone line, with a special operator, that will register all notices of attempted fraud or irregularities regarding the election process," Gradinaru said Sunday in Galati, eastern Romania.
Gradinaru stressed all phone messages will be registered and submitted to all competent bodies, namely, law enforcers, county election offices and prosecution offices, to further take the necessary measures. He also pointed out the new system will be much more efficient than the old telephone line.
Romania holds the first round of presidential elections on November 22 and a second round on December 6.
