U.S. vice president to pay visit to Romania
Publish date: 20-10-2009Vice President of the United States Joe Biden will pay an official visit to Romania on Thursday as part of a Central European tour that will also take him to Poland and the Czech Republic.
Biden is scheduled to meet President Traian Basescu and he will deliver a public address.
The vice president will visit three NATO allies - Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic - between October 20 and 24. During this travel, Joe Biden will meet heads of state and government, parliamentarians and other political officials and civil society representatives, with whom he will tackle a vast array of topics, Biden's press office said in a release.
The U.S. vice president's visit to the Czech Republic and Poland on October 20-24 comes shortly after the United States have dropped plans to deploy a missile defence system in these countries and on this occasion he will also pay a visit to Romania. Biden will evoke the improvement of the commercial ties and the increased investment, the strengthening of democracy and common security issues, the release said.
