Ion Tiriac is Romania's richest man in Capital listing
Publish date: 16-10-2009Romanian business man Ion Tiriac is the country's richest man with an estimated fortune of 1.8-2 billion euro, according to Top 300 Richest Romanians, a publication published annually by Romanian business magazine Capital. Tiriac is followed by businessman Dinu Patriciu and the family of politician-businessman Dan Voiculescu, with 1.5-1.6 billion euro each.
The listing only considered the financial data available by end of 2008 for companies run by Romania's business people, so it did not take into account dramatic but hard to evaluate losses suffered by these people during the first part of 2009. That provides for considerable differences with another listing, Forbes 500 Billionaires, which was published last week and was topped by businessman Dinu Patriciu - who also controls Adevarul Holding, the publisher of Forbes Romania.
