Cosmote enters the corporate landline phone market
Publish date: 02-10-2009Cosmote Romania, the third-largest telecom operator in terms of number of users, plans to consolidate its business client base through an integrated fixed and mobile phone service, Private Wire, addressing companies. Thus, the operator enters a market dominated by Romtelecom, the largest landline phone operator in Romania in terms of number of users, member of the same Greek OTE telecom group, in search of a stable source of revenues.
"Cosmote Private Wire was developed in response to the requests received from our corporate clients and comes to complete our basic activities and services in the mobile phone area. Market trends indicate that such clients are interested in integrated communication solutions that would raise the efficiency of their costs in this field in a real manner. Moreover, with the help of Cosmote Private Wire, clients can configure their individual landline and mobile phone accounts depending on the needs of each employee," Isabela Furtuna, Postpaid Market Development&Retail International Offering Department Manager of Cosmote Romania, said.
This measure follows the local market trend, considering that operators are diversifying their activity and extending their business to new segments of the telecom market. Thus, RCS&RDS, initially a cable TV service provider, intends to reach national mobile internet coverage, while the Vodafone mobile phone operator recently announced raising the internet access speed to 21.6 Mbps, and UPC switched from cable to HD television.
"The fixed phone service launched by Cosmote is not in direct competition with Romtelecom's offer, as it addresses only a specific category of users, the corporate ones," company officials told Business Standard.
At the end of the first eight months of this year, due to the increase registered on the corporate segment, Cosmote posted a 59 percent year-on-year rise in traffic generated by this category of users.
