MTI approves Otopeni and Baneasa airports merger
Publish date: 30-08-2009Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure (MTI) approved last Friday, in a general extraordinary meeting of shareholders of Aurel Vlaicu Baneasa based International Airport, the merger of this airport with the International Airport Henri Coanda based in Otopeni, with the establishment of National Company Airports Bucharest, Mediafax reports.
According to the document, the company resulted from the merger will secure financing sources from own revenues, amounts earmarked from the state budget, bank loans, foreign loans contracted or guaranteed by the state, provided in keeping with the EU regulations addressing competition, non refundable external funding, provided by law, as well as legal participation of private capital and other legally established sources.
The company headquarters will be in Otopeni, the two airports operating as working points. The starting equity capital of the company amounts to RON 143.7 M.
Both airports are 80 per cent controlled by Transport Ministry and Proprietatea Fund owns 20 per cent of the stock. The structure of shareholders remains the same within the National Company Airports Bucharest.
The merger draft was scheduled on the agenda of the government at the end of July but it was withdrawn for a future meeting, PSD representatives asking for the respective normative draft to be previously debated within the Coalition, according to declarations of official sources at that time.
