Turkey will lift mandatory visas for the Romanians most likely starting September, Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu, who is paying an official visit to that country, told Agerpres on Thursday.

'Turkey decided to lift the visas for the Romanian citizens traveling to this country, and to give them the right to stay for shorter than 90 days. In a couple of days the Government will also make the decision and it will also settle the date since the measure is enacted, probably starting September,' ForMin Diaconescu specified.

Romania's top diplomat is paying a two-day official visit to Turkey, at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu. The Romanian foreign minister's visit to Turkey comes after the official visit his Turkish counterpart paid to Bucharest, on July 2-4, 2009 and is part of the bilateral high-level political dialogue.
