Romania's core bourse ended session with massive hikes, underpinned by optimism on external markets

Optimism on the external capital markets pushed up the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) on yesterday's closing, the most liquid stocks climbing an average 3.50 percent, while the financial companies known as SIF boosted almost 5 percent.

Transactions amounted to 26.76 million lei, up 88 percent over the 14.17 million lei recorded in the previous session.

The BET index showing the evolution of the ten best companies on the market rose 3.50 percent to 4,291.95 and the BET-C composite index assessing all listed shares minus financial companies increased 2.61 percent to 2,558.22.

The BET-FI index of the five SIFs jumped 4.82 percent to 21,814.87 and the ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna grew 4.41 percent to 9,094.17.

The BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid companies stepped up 3.95 percent to 417.98 and the BET-NG index showing the evolution of the power market swelled 1.66 percent to 551.57.

In Europe, the indexes climbed to the maximum levels of the past 10 months. The FTSE index in London added 0.53 percent to 4,876.36 and the DAX index in Frankfurt soared 0.67 percent to 5,499.08. The CAC40 index in Paris advanced 0.77 percent to 3,643.78.

Shares of SIF Oltenia (SIF 5) hiked 5.41 percent to 1.17 lei and those of SIF Moldova (SIF2) grew 5.38 percent to 0.98 lei.

Fifth bank by assets Banca Transilvania (TLV) boosted 7.80 percent to 1.52 lei, while Romania's second lender by assets BRD SocGen (BRD) won 3.33 percent to 12.40 lei.

Romania's top oil company Petrom (SNP) added 2.67 percent to 0.269 lei and Broker Cluj (BRK) gained 3.79 percent to 0.219 lei.
