Romania Sees Biggest Monthly Rise In EU's June Constr Output
Publish date: 20-08-2009Romania's June construction output posted the highest monthly increase in the European Union, the EU's statistics agency Eurostat said Wednesday.
Eurostat's seasonally adjusted data showed construction output in Romania rose 9.3% in June, from a -1.1% decline the previous month.
Construction in the EU27 bloc dropped by 3.3% from May, when it fell 2.5%.
Compared with June 2008, construction output in June fell 6.2% in Romania and by 14.1% in the European Union.
Germany and Poland were the only two member states that posted annual increases in the construction sector in June, of 1.2% and 0.6%, respectively.
The sharpest annual declines were seen in Sweden (-16.6% from June 2008), Slovenia (-15.8%) and Spain (-12.6%).
