Romania's core bourse BSE hikes over 5% on the SIF sector, following optimism on external markets
Publish date: 22-07-2009Investors bought significantly on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) yesterday's session and pushed the sector of the five SIFs up by 5.31 percent following several good financial results of U.S. companies, which generated optimism on the capital markets.
Liquidity amounted to 20 million lei yesterday.
The BET index reflecting the evolution of the ten best companies on the market rose 1.68 percent to 3,639.94 and the BET-C composite index assessing all listed shares without financial companies increased 2.29 percent to 2,219.66.
The BET-FI index of the five SIFs boosted 5.31 percent to 17,703.51 and the ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna hiked 1.95 percent to 7.311.76.
The BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid companies grew 2.82 percent to 349.13 and the BET-NG index showing the evolution of the power market stepped up 1.67 percent to 527.22.
European bourses soared more than 1 percent at the closing hour in Bucharest. The FTSE index in London advanced 1.21 percent to 4,497.55 and the DAX index in Frankfurt added 2 percent to 5,130.61. The CAC40 index in Paris climbed 1.56 percent to 3,321.90.
SIF Oltenia (SIF5) was the most liquid stock on the market with deals of 4.73 million lei and jumped 5.29 percent to 0.895 lei. SIF Moldova (SIF2) boosted 7.53 percent to 0.785 lei, SIF Transilvania (SIF3) hiked 5.05 percent to 0.458 lei and SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) rose 4.24 percent to 0.86 lei.
Romania's second bank by assets BRD SocGen (BRD) stepped up 3.51 percent to 8.85 lei, while fifth lender by assets Banca Transilvania (TLV) lost 0.85 percent to 1.16 lei.
The largest oil company Petrom (SNP) grew 4.02 percent to 0.259 lei and electricity transporter Transelectrica (TEL) inched 0.77 percent to 13.10 lei.
