Salaries in the IT fields rose 10% in H1
Publish date: 02-07-2009Salaries in the IT industry rose by an annual 10 percent in the first half of 2009, according to the survey conducted by Ghidul-Salariilor.ro. More than half of the employees in the IT sector benefitted from salary rises, 36 percent continued with last year's salary, and only eight percent were affected by salary cuts, compared to the first six months in 2008, according to the survey.
The highest salary increase, of almost 20 percent, was registered for project manager positions, while the highest drop, of 11 percent, was posted for IT support engineers. The average increase at management level was 34 percent, while for technical positions, salaries rose by a mere three percent.
Ariadna Sutac, Recruitment Manager of the Brainspotting recruitment company, said this data does not reflect the whole image of the IT market, but rather the fact that the survey was taken by persons with salaries below the market average, in general.
"The survey indicated that an IT manager earns an average €1,200 per month. This amount is indeed correct only if we refer to a person with the title of IT manager, but he is the only IT person in his company, and manages the administration of servers and help-desk applications. If we talk about an IT manager who is a team leader, the salary exceeds this amount by far, depending on the size of the team and the company," Sutac added.
