Romania New Car Sales Dn 35.7% In Apr, Dn 50.8% In Jan-Apr
Publish date: 19-05-2009Romania's new car sales decreased 35.7% on the year in April, to 14,884 units and by 50.8% on the year in the first four months, to 44,558 units, according to the Romanian Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).
New car sales in April 2008 totaled 23,171 units, while sales in Jan-April last year stood at 90,565 units.
On the month, new car sales increased 10.4% in April, to 14,884 units from 13,484 units sold in March.
Romania's total auto market, including cars, commercial vehicles and buses, decreased 42.4% in April this year compared to April 2008, to 16,458 units from 28,581 units.
In Jan-Apr, total sales reached 49,971 vehicles, down 54.9% compared to the same period last year, when sales totaled 110,839 vehicles.
However, on the month, the whole market increased 11.1% in April, to 16.458 vehicles from 14,812 in March.
Sales of commercial vehicles, the second largest segment by volume, decreased 70.5% on the year in April, to 1,488 units, and by 72.9% in the first four months of the year, to 5.071 units.
Bus sales decreased to 86 units in April from 355 in April last year, while the drop in the first four months of the year was of 78.1%, to 342 units in Jan-Apr this year from 1,560 units in the same period last year.
