The index of the confidence in the Romanian economy dropped 4.8 points in March, to a new record minimum, Mediafax informs. However, the monthly decline was less marked than in February, of 10.4 points, according to the European Commission, which calculated for the Union an average falling rate of 0.6 per cent.

The fall of the index was determined by the deterioration of the confidence in industry and the sector of services both in EU and the Euro zone (-2 points in the case of both regions). In Romania the index of the confidence in consumption fell the most significantly, 44 points, followed by the index of confidence in construction, which decreased 32 points. In industry, the index dropped 17 points, in services 13 points, and in the retail trade 10 points.

The confidence of the users stabilized in EU, but decreased one point in the Monetary Union. The biggest reductions were reported for Cyprus (10.4 points), Slovakia (8.9 points) and Hungary (6.2 points). Of the big European states, the most significant deterioration of the confidence was registered for Italy (4.5 points), France and Poland (one point for each of them), Germany (0.8 points) and Great Britain (0.4 points). The most significant improvement of the confidence in the economy was reported by Portugal (5.3 points), Belgium (2.8 points) and Denmark (2.1 points).

Also, the confidence in the economies of The Netherlands and Spain has started to revive slightly against the previous month, rising in March 1.3 points, and respectively 0.8 points.
