Services and constructions, highest contribution to GDP rise in 2008
Publish date: 19-03-2009The services and constructions had the highest contribution to the rise of 7.1 percent of the GDP (gross domestic product) registered in 2008, according to figures supplied on Thursday by president of the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The services had a contribution of 2.6 percentage points to the GDP rise, construction - 2.3 percent, agriculture and fishing - 1.2 percent, net taxes on product - 0.7 percent, whereas industry brought only 0.3 pc from the GDP rise of 7.1 pc.
After a record high economic growth of 9 percent in the first nine months of 2008, the GDP rise slowed down to 2.9 percent in Q4, leading to an economic growth of 7.1 percent on the entire year.
The GDP in Q4 accounted for 31.6 percent of the annual GDP, compared to 32-33 percent over 2000-2007.
Compared to the first nine months of 2008, in the last quarter there were reported major decreases in the contribution to the economic growth from industry - 0.9 percent, trade and HORECA, telecom, transport - 0.3 percent, financial activities - 0.3 percent.
