Romanian Minimum Wage Hike Inflates Traffic Violation Fines
Publish date: 29-09-2008The Romanian traffic violation fine point will reach RON54 starting with October 1, thus representing, in accordance with the law, 10% of the gross minimum wage in the country, which will be increased at the same date to RON540 per month, the Romanian Traffic Police announced.
The Romanian Government decided, through Decision 1,051/10.09.2008, to increase the gross minimum wage to RON540 per month between October 1 and December 31, 2008.
Since the traffic violation fine point represents 10% of the minimum wage, according to Government Emergency Ordinance 195/2002 republished, with later amendments, one fine point will now reach RON54 starting with October 1.
