Romania's economic growth will stay above 6% until 2013, official prognosis shows
Publish date: 26-09-2008Romania's economic advance will settle at 9.1 percent in 2008 and will maintain a level above 6 percent until 2013, according to the country's prognosis body (CNP) which revised estimates after recent record acceleration of the economy.
CNP estimates the nominal gross domestic product (GDP) will reach 505 billion lei this year, from 404.7 billion lei in 2007.
The official prognosis for 2009 was revised upwards to 6.5 percent from the previous level of 6.1 percent. The economic growth is estimated to temper between 2010 and 2013 to around 6 percent.
Romania's GDP advance posted a record high of 8.8 percent in the first semester of 2008, compared to 6 percent last year.
Romania posts an accelerated economic growth in the context of standstill or recession among other developed states.
The European Commission has recently revised downwards its economic growth estimates for the 15 member states of the Eurozone to 1.3 percent from the previous estimate of 1.7 percent in April. The Eurozone GDP advance stood at 2.6 percent in 2007.
