Romanian CEC Depositors To Receive Compensations As Of Oct 30Updated: 25-09-2008 |
Romanians who deposited money in savings bank CEC to buy Dacia cars will receive compensations starting October 30, two months earlier than planned.
The value of compensations amounts to 760 million lei (EUR1=RON3.6596).
"Today (Wednesday, e.n.) we shall propose a government ordinance to allow earlier payments starting October 30," economy and finance minister Varujan Vosganian told a press conference Wednesday.
Moreover, the number of beneficiaries rose to 37,478 people.
The government said Tuesday that the people who deposited money in CEC to buy cars would receive compensations two months earlier than planned after it decided in March this year that payments would be made starting Dec 22, 2008.
The treasury bills granted as compensations are issued on Dec 21, 2007 and mature on Dec 21, 2008.
Finance minister Varujan Vosganian said end February that people who deposited money in CEC before 1992 to buy Dacia cars would receive their money back in one installment, starting Dec 22, 2008.
