Vosganian: Romania has entered, this Sept, the tenth consecutive year of economic growth

Romania has entered, this Sept, the tenth consecutive year of economic growth, Minister of Economy and Finance Varujan Vosganian said on Wednesday.

He added that the pace of growth in Romania is six times higher than the average in the EU.

According to figures released by the National Statistics Institute (INS), Romania's GDP stood at 109.019 billion lei in current prices in Q2, up 9.3 percent in real terms from the same period last year. Romania ranks first among the 27 EU states, read preliminary estimates recently published by the European Statistics Office, Eurostat.

In H1 2008, GDP reached 195.764 billion lei, after an advance of 8.8 percent.

Vosganian has recently said that Romania is expected to report this year 8.5 percent in economic growth. The growth target for this year stands at six percent.

Vosganian is participating on Wednesday, at Victoria governmental Palace, in the presentation of a Report on meeting the commitments in the governing programme assumed in 2004.
