Romania's home mortgage banks market can currently count from four to six players, so new players are likely to enter the market in the next years, according to the vice president of BCR Banca pentru Locuinte, the unit of Romania's largest lender by assets BCR, Carmen Schuster.

New players on this segment could pave the way to a more developed system of savings and lending, according to the president of BCR Banca pentru Locuinte, Petre Tulin.

The representatives of BCR Banca pentru Locuinte also deem the decision of others banks whether to roll into the market or not could depend on BCR's success on this segment, probably seen as a signal over the market's potential.

BCR Banca pentru Locuinte targets to step in the black in the next three years and become a market leader, with more than 50 percent market share.

BCR Banca pentru Locuinte has a share capital of 45 million lei. BCR owns 80 percent of its shares, while the rest belong to Bausparkasse der Osterreichischen Sparkassen Aktiengesellschaft.

Three banks activate on the Romanian profile market: BCR Banca pentru Locuinte, Raiffeisen Banca pentru Locuinte and HVB Banca pentru Locuinte.
