Romania's electricity resources up 8.7% y/y in H1, on output growth, statistics show
Publish date: 07-08-2008Romania's electricity resources and primary electricity resources advanced 8.7 percent, respectively 1.5 percent in the first half of the year against the same period last year, according to a release issued by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Electricity resources reached 33,273.5 million Kwh in the first half, on production growth, which advanced with 2,819.4 million Kwh (9.4 percent).
Thermal power plants produced 1,389.5 million Kwh less electricity, while hydro power plants provided 28 percent more electricity, to 2,166.4 million Kwh; nuclear power plants saw 66.4 percent boost in output to 2,042.5 Kwh.
The final electricity consumption in the first six months of the year stood at 26,626.8 million Kwh, up 4.5 percent against the same period last year. Street lightning increased 7.6 percent and people's consumption rose 9.2 percent.
Electricity export rose 1,108.3 million Kwh (65.6 percent) in the first semester against the same period last year.
