BMW sales in Romania rose 65%
Publish date: 24-01-2008BMW sales on the Romanian market rose to more than 2,720 units in 2007, 65 percent year-on-year. The best-seller was the X5 off-road model, exceeding 800 units, according to the local subsidiary of the German brand, BMW Romania. There were 746 Series 3 models sold last year (92.3 higher year-on-year).
BMW Romania took over import operations for BMW and Mini, although its former importer, Automobile Bavaria, still serves as dealer for the two brands.
BMW's main competitors on the local market are the Audi (imported by Porsche Romania) and Mercedes-Benz (imported by Daimler Automotive Romania) brands.
Imports of new cars rose some 49 percent last year, to more than 204,700 units.
