Romania's imports of new cars up almost 50% last year, to 205,000 units
Publish date: 22-01-2008Sales of imported new cars rose 49.2 percent in Romania last year, according to statistic data released by the Association of Car Producers and Importers. A total of 248,909 imported new cars were sold on the Romanian car market last year, a 49.8 percent rise against the 166,127 units sold in 2006, including commercial vehicles and buses.
Of the total imported cars, 40,963 units were commercial vehicles which saw sales climbing 55.3 percent against the 26,369 units sold in 2006.
Romania imported 3,227 buses. Sales for this category rose 28.8 percent from 2,506 units in 2007. A total of 366,819 units were sold on the Romanian market last year, rising 23.4 percent against the 297,162 units sold in 2006.
