Dacia sales in Germany up 175% in 2007
Publish date: 15-01-2008Dacia sales in Germany, Europe's biggest market for like products, increased by 175% last year, to 17 300 units, of which 4 296 units had Diesel engine, the company having a 2.1% market share, according to the German Federal Transport Authority, KBA.
In December, last year, the number of vehicle marketed by the company controlled by the Renault group rose by 93.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, to 1 402 units.
According to the quoted source, the carmaker's market share was 2.1% last year, and 2.2% in December.
In France, the number of vehicles marketed by Dacia increased from 18 742 units in 2006 to 32 635 units, a level reached at the end of last year, according to data published by the French Committee of Car Manufacturers.
Dacia sales at global level grew by 17.4% in 2007, to 230 473 units, from 196 378 units a year before. The sales evolution was upheld by the Logan car, which sold 367 745 units at global level, 48% more than in 2006, both under the Dacia and the Renault brand.
In Romania, the company marketed 106 062 units last year, the Romanian market being the most important for the car manufacturer.
The number of new car registrations in Germany dropped by 9.2% in 2007, to 3.148 million vehicles, the lowest level registered since the country's reunification in 1990.
The evolution of the German automotive market in 2007, negatively influenced by the increase in the value added tax (VAT) from 1 January, exceeded the negative record of 1993, when 3.194 million new cars had been registered.
Almost all the important car manufacturers reported for last year drops in the number of registered cars bigger than the average of the German automotive market.
