Film critics of the New York Times consider Romanian director Cristian Mungiu's "4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days" should be nominated in six categories in this year's edition of the Academy Awards, not just the Best Foreign Language Film section, the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York said.

In Sunday's edition, in the article "The Oscars: And the Nominees Should Be…", the New York Times publishes the Oscar nomination options of A.O. Scott, Manohla Dargis and Stephen Holden.

Mungiu's film was put down by A.O. Scott and Manohla Dargis for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress - Anamaria Marinca, Best Supporting Actor - Vlad Ivanov and Best Original Screenplay.

Also in the Best Original Screenplay section, A.O. Scott said "A fost sau n-a fost?" by Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu.

"4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days" is officially up only for the Best Foreign Language Film section.

Official Oscar nominees will be announced in the second half of January.

Director Cristian Mungiu and actor Vlad Ivanov will attend the award ceremony of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Golden Globes.

Mungiu's Palme D'Or winner will be officially launched in New York on January 25, 2008.
