Some Romanian Banks Open On Dec. 31

Banks in Romania will be closed on December 25-26 and January 1-2, while some banks will be open on December 31, declared non-banking day by the central bank.

However, the banks will not operate any payments.

Romania's largest lender by assets Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) announced the bank will be open on December 31 from 8:30 to 12:30, while BRD-Groupe Societe Generale will be closed.

Raiffeisen Bank, Romania's third largest lender by assets, will be open on the last day of the year from 9:00 to 13:00.

UniCredit Tiriac Bank will also be open on December 31.

Romania's last remaining state-owned bank, Casa de Economii si Consemnatiuni (CEC), will be closed on December 31.

Volksbank will also be open, while Alpha Bank Romania and Bancpost will be closed.

On Christmas Eve, December 24, most banks will go about their regular schedule.

Most bank units located in shopping centers will be open on December 26, 31 and January 2.
