New British players on the banking market
Publish date: 13-12-2007In the coming three years new players are expected to come onto the Romanian banking market, following Royal Bank of Scotland, which took over ABN Amro, although British banks have not considered Romania a strategic location to date, according to Raymond Breden, Co-Chairman of the Romanian-British Chamber of Commerce, and KPMG Romania Director of Taxation Services.
Romania's banking market is presently controlled by Austrian banks Erste and Raiffeisen, Greek banks Alpha Bank, Banca Romaneasca, Bancpost and Piraeus Bank, and Italian UnicreditTiriac.
