Romania gets EU funding of EUR 7.5 mil for employment, competitiveness programmes

The Labour Ministry made a call for projects containing active employment measures and a call for offers of projects for labour force competitiveness by learning. Labour Minister Paul Pacuraru announced that the budget supporting the active employment measures is EUR 4.87 M, EUR 3.65 M of which is EU funding, and the workforce competitiveness programme budget is EUR 5.14 M, of which EUR 3.85 M is EU contribution.

The proposals of projects containing active employment measures are part of the PHARE 2006 Programme for Economic and Social Cohesion regarding the improvement of active measures mainly addressed to the unemployed and low-income workers in agriculture.  

The applications for grants can be submitted by trade associations, education and vocational training suppliers, state-owned and privately-owned organisations, so on and so forth, and can be submitted to the eight regional centres for the allocation of project funding, no later than February 7, 2008.

The second category of projects belongs to the PHARE 2006 Programme for Economic and Social Cohesion for the 'Promotion of life-long learning for labour force qualification and re-qualification.'

Applications are submitted to the eight regional centres for the allocation of non-refundable money for economic and social cohesion. In both cases, the funding limits per project are EUR 15,000 and EUR 150,000 and the beneficiary must provide a contribution of up to 20 per cent of the total eligible cost.
