Petrom, Orange and Mobifon, top profitable co.s in '06

Petrom, Orange and Mobifon were the private companies with the highest pre-tax profit in 2006, according to the National Council for Small and Medium-sized Private Romanian Enterprises (CNIPMMR), ACT Media News Agency reports. According to the survey, Petrom holds the lead in the category "Large-sized companies" with a pre-tax profit of 2,546,166,973 lei, followed by Orange Romania SA with 1,639,439,792 lei and Mobifon with 1,340,295,418 lei.

The leading three positions at the category medium-sized companies were filled by Anchor Group (70,788,768 lei), Accor Services (69,458,851 lei) and Sodexho Pass (47,640,551 lei).

The leading three small sized companies were Moldova Universal SA (65,894,550 lei), Premium Lubricants SRL (30,011,024 lei) and Simex SA (29,348,446).

At the category "micro-enterprises" the leaders were Winmarkt Alfa (66.955.186 lei), Inter Ro (34,554.103 lei) and Emmeti Di Fredi (31,601.421 lei).

"In 2006, Romanian companies created about 160,000 jobs of which 60,000 in large enterprises. There is still a lot to do until we reach the European average," said CNIPMMR president Ovidiu Nicolescu.
