Today, Vodafone Romania presented, at CERF, the first demonstration of 3G broadband - HSDPA which delivers the fastest mobile data connection on the market, at speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps on the network. This will increase the speed that we currently offer to our 3G broadband users from 1.4 Mbps to 2.8 Mbps, for a usual customer experience.
"By the end of May, Vodafone customers in 23 Romanian cities will benefit from the fastest mobile data transfer rates in Romania, of up to 2.8 Mbps, with the new 3G broadband services. Today, we presented at CERF the first demonstration of the new 3G broadband services anticipating the next step in our mobile broadband strategy.
Moreover, we announced that we would soon launch our own fixed voice number range for the companies that use Vodafone integrated communications services. By attaching our own fixed line number range to the integrated solutions proposition, we aimed at consolidating our capabilities to serve our business customers as total communications provider", said Liliana Solomon, President and Chief Executive Officer, Vodafone Romania.
The new Vodafone 3G broadband services will be launched by the end of May, in all 23 Romanian cities with 3G broadband 1.8 Mbps network coverage: Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Brasov, Iasi, Constanta, Craiova, Ploiesti, Sibiu, Oradea, Targu Mures, Arad, Pitesti, Galati, Braila, Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Bistrita, Bacau, Buzau, Alba Iulia, Turda and Deva.
Vodafone announced at CERF that, starting next week, it would start allocating its own fixed voice numbers to the integrated communications solutions customers. As a result of that, approximately 6,000 companies which use Vodafone integrated services will significantly reduce their total communications costs. Vodafone fixed voice numbers will have the prefix "0372", followed by other 6 figures and will be accessible from all major national networks, mobile and fixed.
Vodafone is the first operator that launched 3G broadband - HSDPA services in Romania, on October 5, 2006, enabling data transfer speeds of up to 1.8 Mbps in the network, and 1.4 Mbps for a usual customer experience. On April 16, 2007, Vodafone extended 3G broadband coverage network to 23 Romanian cities.
