Vodafone Navigator, the first GPS navigation solution on the mobile phone in Romania

The solution brings high quality digital maps for users who travel by car extensively, in Romania and in other 18 European countries / territories.
Vodafone Romania launches Vodafone Navigator, the first GPS navigation solution available on the mobile phone for Romanian users. Vodafone Navigator enables customers to use their mobile phones also as navigation devices, when travelling by car, in Romania and in other 18 European countries / territories.
With Vodafone Navigator, Vodafone Romania customers can easily access, directly on their mobile phone, high quality maps to locate their position. The solution enables users to search and view a location on the map, to plan the route up to a point of interest or address, to calculate the distance to the desired destination, and to indicate the shortest or the fastest way between two locations.

Vodafone Navigator offers Romanian users the possibility to search within hundreds of high quality detailed city maps of Romania and European countries, allowing cross-border routing as well. In addition, Vodafone customers are able to search a large database, continuously updated, with over 13,500 places of interest organized in useful categories, including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, hospitals, bank offices.
Vodafone Navigator can be used as a guidance tool on national and international roads, providing voice or visual instructions along the route to the selected destination. Voice navigation directions and menues are available in both Romanian and English languages.
Vodafone Navigator uses a Nokia GPS (Global Positioning System) device which receives the necessary satellite coordinates and send them to the mobile phone, by Bluetooth. The user will thus be able to access and view, directly on his mobile phone, the online maps which are hosted on a central server,
Vodafone Navigator is available to Vodafone Romania contract subscribers, for a monthly fee of 8 USD, which enables access to the maps of Romanian cities (national GPRS traffic included). For access to the maps of European countries as well, an additional monthly subscription fee of 5 USD will be charged. The costs corresponding to the generated GPRS roaming traffic will be charged separately.
Vodafone Navigator service is activated by default, once the customer purchases the GPS device. The cost of the GPS device is 79 USD and the application is easy to install on the user's mobile phone.
Vodafone GPS navigation solution is compatible with 42 hansdet models, including: Nokia E61, Nokia N70, Nokia 73, Nokia E50, Sony Ericsson V630i, Sony Ericsson W800i, Sony Ericsson K800i, Motorola E1070 and Motorola V3X.
When roaming, Vodafone Navigator service provides users' access to digital maps of the following European countries/territories: Germany, Spain, Italy, Denmark, France, England, Switzerland, Sweden, Scotland, Portugal, Norway, Northern Ireland, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Hungary, Czech Republic, Belgium and Austria.
Vodafone Navigator is available starting today in all Vodafone Romania stores in the country, as well as through Vodafone Romania direct sales representatives.
