Event: Bill Gates Visits Bucharest
Publish date: 31-01-2007The Microsoft President is to come to Romania on Thursday morning. He is to initiate the Global Technical Support Centre of the company. He will also attend an event in Paris on the afternoon of the same day.
On the 1st of February, Bill Gates will arrive in Romania and he will stay in Bucharest for a few hours. The Microsoft President is to attend two events: the official opening of the Global Technical Support Centre (GTSC) in Bucharest and the announcement of the general availability for Romania of Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. PM Tariceanu is to attend the opening of GTSC, according to one of yesterday’s Government official statements. Mediafax had initially announced the visit of President Traian Basescu, based on information from certain “official sources”. In the afternoon of the same day, Bill Gates will be in Paris for the “Salon des Entrepreneurs” exhibition.
EUROPEAN TOUR. Bill Gates is on a European tour at the moment. The first stop was today, in London (the British Museum Conference). Edinburgh, Bucharest and Paris are next in line. In addition to launching the Vista version for individual users, the Microsoft president will also have meetings with officials and representative businessmen. This is the first time Bill Gates comes to Romania. The Microsoft General Director, Steve Ballmer, visited Romania in October 2004, when the Government and Microsoft have signed an agreement for 25,000 software licenses (XP Home Edition) for pupils and students. This is the agreement at the base of the 200 euros subsidy for IT. In 1975, Bill Gates, together with Paul Allen, founded Microsoft. According to the most recent Forbes chart, Bill Gates is the richest man on the Planet at present, with an estimated asset of 50 billion U.S. dollars.
