Phishers launch renewed strike at Hungarian online bank
Publish date: 18-01-2007Raiffeisen bank customers were the target of another phishing attack on Wednesday, and the bank's homepage had to be shut down temporarily, writes Magyar Hírlap.
Raiffeisen clients were the first targets of a string of attacks against Hungarian online banks that began late last year. Criminals set up fake websites in order to obtain users' passwords and credit card numbers, and despite warnings 15 people fell prey to the perpetrators, losing around Ft 10 million.
The police have already detained two suspects, but investigations are ongoing into the numerous people who may have helped to transfer the money.
