The new town-planning certificate recently issued for the Rosia Montana project (Alba County, central western Romania) will determine the resumption of all procedures, including the public debates, Environment and Forestry Minister Laszlo Borbely told a press conference on Monday.

'There has been issued a new town planning certificate for this intention to invest in Rosia Montana, which means the Technical Approval Committee will meet in the coming period and all procedures will be surely resumed, starting with the public debates,' the Environment minister informed.

He added we will have to get in touch with Hungary, given that this is a cross-border project and the joint Romania-Hungarian committee will be reactivated.

Laszlo Borbely underscored that, in his capacity as Environment minister, he will fully comply with the European and the Romanian legislation with respect to the gold and silver exploitation project in Rosia Montana.

The Canadian Rosia Montana Gold Corporation (RMGC) that has so far invested 400 million dollars in the gold business in Romania planned to extract nearly 300 tons of gold and 1,400 tons of silver from Rosia Montana, the equivalent value of 20,000 ingots.
