Trading stopped at the Bucharest Stock Exchange after steep falls under the effect of global crisis
Publish date: 08-10-2008Trading at the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) was suspended today after falls of above 10 percent, on continuing slump on the market, caused by the international turmoil.
Liquidity at rising bell dropped 15.5 percent to 3.91 million lei. The BET index of the ten best companies on BSE lost 5.25 percent to 3,759.78 and the BET-C composite index measuring all listed shares minus financial companies slid 4.65 percent to 2,841.04.
The BET-FI index of the five financial companies known as SIF slumped 8.33 percent to 20,710.96 and the ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna plunged 5.78 percent to 9,151.50.
The BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid companies on the stock market plummeted 6.17 percent to 383.53 and the BET-NG index of the ten power companies on the bourse slipped 4.93 percent to 536.02.
Financial company SIF Oltenia (SIF5) lost 8.40 percent to 1.09 lei and the second lender by assets and network BRD SocGen (BRD) dropped 10.99 percent to 8.50 lei.
Austrian-based lender Erste Bank (EBS) fell 7.42 percent to 114.80. Brokerage SSIF Broker (BRK) collapsed 8.84 percent at rising bell to 0.268 lei.
Electricity transporter Transelectrica (TEL) cheapened 5.81 percent to 14.60 lei and oil company Petrom (SNP) slipped 5.08 percent to 0.28 lei.
